About Me

My Story

Hi! My name is Jenna. I was born in the beautiful twin island of Trinidad and Tobago. When I was growing up, there were two things I wanted to become a mom and doctor. Well, I became a mom, and on occasion, I do feel like their doctor. Being a mom of our two beautiful children is my greatest joy, even with all its challenges. We call them our miracles because I have polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis. Besides for the pain they cause, these illnesses also cause infertility. Three doctors told me that I would never have kids. God had a different plan.

My husband and I met on Instagram. Funny story! After about a year and a half after meeting and growing blissfully in love, we welcomed our first miracle, baby Jasia. Four years later, we welcomed our second miracle baby, Jaxon. Our hearts are full!

I work full-time. My role focuses on internal communications, employee engagement, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. I also teach kids Grade 4 through 10 about public speaking and speech fundamentals. Jasia and I have written and published a book “A Girl and Her Curls.” I also have an incredible candle business called Chaconia Candles. Yup! I am very busy, but I love what I do.

I want to connect more with moms around the world and build a trusted community to share our experiences and provide insight on motherhood and parenting tips. One of my greatest joys is listening to other moms’ stories, good and bad, because we learn from each other and enrich each other lives. When I first became a mom, I thought I was the only one who was experiencing certain challenges. Then I found out through speaking to other moms that we are more relatable than we think. I created the Mommin for J’s blog to empower and inspire moms all over the world and elevate motherhood.

Here are some fun facts about me:

  • I love watching documentaries about our Black history.
  • I love listening to soca and gospel, and of course, singing along.
  • I love cooking, but not for long hours.
  • I love swimming, but I am afraid of the deep.
  • I love Dragon Boat. I used to enter competitions in Trinidad.
  • I love kayaking. Clearly, I love water sports.
  • I love adventurous and thrilling activities, but not sure I would ever skydive again.
